Hammers boss David Moyes will be desperate to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium, with Declan Rice being heavily touted for a summer exit (The Athletic’s David Ornstein).
However, the Hammers could face a problem…
West Ham chasing James Ward-Prowse signing but there’s a big problem
According to The Daily Mail, Hammers boss David Moyes is very keen to bring the Southampton ace to the London Stadium this summer.
However, the 28-year-old does not have a relegation release clause inserted into his current contract with the Saints – something that could prove to be problematic for West Ham.
That’s an awful lot of money, and if the Saints dig their heels in, this should be a deal that the Hammers walk away from in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong, the 28-year-old is a very good player and has been described as the ‘Premier League’s most underrated player’ by Michael Richards (Daily Echo). However, I think we need to be more ambitious in our summer recruitment.
Moyes should be looking to sign two central midfielders to replace Rice from these names – Ibrahim Sangare, Khephren Thuram, Seko Fofana, Teun Koopmeiners and Romeo Lavia in my opinion.
James Ward-Prowse would be a big bonus for West Ham in addition to any of those names, but not for £50 million.
Moyes should be spending his money far more wisely this summer as far as I’m concerned.
