Jamie Carragher has sent a message to West Ham and David Moyes after the Hammers made a first European final in 47 years.
West Ham will play Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League final in Prague on June 7th.
Should the Hammers win, it will end a 43-year major trophy drought and deliver a first European trophy since 1965.
Leading 2-1 from the first leg, West Ham stood firm against AZ Alkmaar in Holland and scored a brilliant late goal through Pablo Fornals to seal another memorable night in the club’s history.
The Spaniard’s run, nutmeg and finish sparked wild celebrations among everyone connected with West Ham.
And David Moyes soaked up the atmosphere as he ran on the pitch to rejoice with the travelling support.
Carragher told West Ham to stick with Moyes
There has – and continues to be – intense speculation over the Scot’s future at West Ham.
But he was serenaded by Hammers fans once more during the jubilant scenes.
Last month Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher told West Ham they would be making a huge mistake if they part ways with Moyes.
I think he’s a top Premier League manager.
There’s talk that at the end of the season they may just part ways. I think that would be a mistake, I really do.
I always look at West Ham, and they’re very similar to Everton, in terms of one of those teams who are trying to jump and mix with the big boys at the top and it’s difficult.
Yea (they were doing that the last couple of years) but even then you still can only quite get to sixth, which is still a great season.
If I was a West Ham owner or a fan I’d just think I’d want David Moyes to do what he did at Everton for 10 years. They won’t do it that long here because I think these change managers a lot more. But just because West Ham have had a poor season does it mean you have to get rid of David Moyes? No! He’s been brilliant for West Ham.
It hasn’t quite gone as well as they’d like this season. But they might go and win a European trophy which would be amazing for the supporters. He had the odd season like (this) at Everton but then they’d go back to being what they were – which was fighting for the European places and I think West Ham could do that again next season so I would keep David Moyes in for next season.
