West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Southampton centre-back Mohammed Salisu in the summer transfer window.
According to Sportsworldghana, West Ham are ready to battle Brighton and Hove Albion for the signing of Mohammed Salisu.
Hammers boss David Moyes will undoubtedly be keen to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium this summer, having allowed Craig Dawson to leave the club in January.
In addition to the 33-year-old’s exit, Kurt Zouma continues to experience injury problems and Angelo Ogbonna will be 35 in a few days’s time.
And it seems as though Moyes has someone specific in mind to come in and bolster his central defensive department…
West Ham eyeing Mohammed Salisu summer transfer window swoop
Sportsworldghana reckon that the Hammers are ready to battle the Seagulls for the Ghanaian’s signature this summer.
The 24-year-old has been superb for Southampton this season, although he hasn’t played since the middle of March because of injury.
In 22 Premier League outings for the Saints this term, Salisu has averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.4 interceptions, 5.4 clearances and 2.5 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
During those appearances, he made 49.5 passes on average per match and registered a completion rate of 76.8% (Who Scored). The reason that percentage is fairly low is because Salisu is a really progressive passer of the football and always tries to break the lines between defence, midfield and on into attack.
The Southampton ace is strong as an ox, aerially dominant, quick along the ground and tenacious in the tackle – in other words a brilliant all-round defender.
My news Ghana have described Salisu as an ‘unbelievable’ defender.
Southampton signed the 24-year-old from Real Valladolid in the summer of 2020 for around £11 million (Sky Sports).
Modern Ghana claim that the capped Ghana international has a £15 million release clause inserted into his contract with the Saints. That would represent a truly incredible deal for the Hammers if we manage to get it done.
And if West Ham bring Mohammed Salisu to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window, I’ll be absolutely delighted.
