Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani will try to buy West Ham if he fails in his takeover attempts at Manchester United.
That’s according to a report from Spanish publication El Pais who claim that the current Manchester United owners – the Glazers – have raised their asking price from £5.2 billion up to £6 billion.

Sheikh Jassim, who is the president of the Islamic Bank of Qatar (BIQ), could now switch his attention to West Ham.
Now, the 44-year-old doesn’t have wealth comparable to some of the owners in the Premier League – Manchester City, Newcastle and Chelsea for example.
He is worth around £960 million according to Forbes. Our current co-owner Daniel Kretinsky has a net worth of around £7.5 billion (Forbes) whilst David Sullivan has a £1.1 billion fortune (Daily Star).
So unless his wealth hasn’t been documented correctly, I don’t really see why the Qatari taking over at the London Stadium would be beneficial for us…
West Ham on the radar of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani
El Pais reckon that if the Qatari is unsuccessful in his bid for Manchester United, he could make a move to take over the Hammers.
He was the Prime Minister of Qatar from 2007-2013, and he is an incredibly high ranking individual in his home country.
If he is trying to buy Man United, he simply has to be worth more than £960 million, or it wouldn’t be possible would it.
Listen, David Sullivan deserves a lot of criticism for some of the things he has done over the past decade or so in charge of West Ham.
However, sometimes it’s better the devil you know. And in fairness to him, he has backed David Moyes to the hilt in the transfer market over the past few years.
If Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani was to complete a takeover of West Ham, what’s to say that he would act with the best interest of the club at heart? There certainly aren’t any guarantees either way.
