Everton will be ‘in talks’ with organisers at Bramley Moore Dock to reschedule payments for their new stadium construction.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who spoke exclusively to Football Insider about the Toffees’ plans to finance their stadium build.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Everton have entered a period of exclusivity with MSP Sports Capital over investment in the Merseyside club.
The Toffees had also held talks with 777 Partners over a potential deal, but an agreement with MSP is now inching closer to completion after exclusivity was granted.
It is understood that the minority investment will be used to finance the construction of their new 52,888-capacity stadium.
Club owner Farhad Moshiri claimed that the stadium construction could end up costing the Toffees as much as £760million.
Maguire believes Everton will be in contact with the stadium constructors to renegotiate payment once investment from MSP is secured.
“If Everton are successful in terms of having a relationship with MSP, then this is likely to result in a substantial amount of cash coming into the club,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“To a certain extent, the money coming in will be ring-fenced for the new stadium.
“Therefore, it is likely that Everton are in talks with the construction company to revise the payments.
“To ensure that what works best for Everton in terms of minimising disruption and volatility in terms of the cash going out of the club.“
