Liverpool have reportedly made an approach to sign FC Barcelona defender Jules Kounde who is considering his future at Camp Nou beyond the summer.
Kounde has been linked with a move to Chelsea who were interested in signing him from Sevilla last summer before the France international made the to Barcelona and enjoyed a stellar debut campaign, playing 38 times for the La Liga champions.
According to a report from The Daily Mail, it is claimed that the Reds are keen on Kounde with Jurgen Klopp looking to bring the Frenchman to Anfield and shore up his defensive roster ahead of the start of the next season.
The 24-year-old Kounde has been left disappointed by Barcelona head coach Xavi’s decision to utilise him at right-back as opposed to his preferred centre back role which has added to speculation that the former Sevilla man could be on the move.
Chelsea are believed to have reignited their long standing interest in the defender whose terms at Camp Nou are not due to expire until the end of the 2026-27 season which could prompt Barca to demand a hefty asking price.
