Report makes Kalvin Phillips claim as Declan Rice West Ham exit rumours heat up
The Hammers are thought to be closely monitoring the 26-capped England international’s situation at Man City ahead of the summer transfer window.
I have to say, I really think we should be looking elsewhere for a Rice replacement this summer.
Don’t get me wrong, Phillips is an excellent player, there’s no doubting that. However, the 27-year-old has experienced terrible problems with injuries over the past few years.
Since the start of the 2020/21 season, the 27-year-old has missed 216 days of action due to shoulder, hamstring and calf injuries (Transfermarkt).
He’ll be 28 in December as well – hardly a young and hungry player with a point to prove!
If Moyes is to adequately replace Rice, he needs to sign two young, energetic and dynamic midfielders like Khephren Thuram and Yunus Musah in my opinion. Or someone like Sofyan Amrabat who possesses similar traits to Dec.
If West Ham sign Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City this summer I think it could end up being a really big mistake.
