And he showed he still has a lot of love for his old side after wishing West Ham well ahead of the clash in Prague.
It was revealed earlier this week that Hammers hero Dawson – affectionately nicknamed Ballon Dawson – that the now Wolves defender WOULD receive a winners’ medal should West Ham lift the trophy.
West Ham were given 40 medals for their triumph in Prague. And the club fully intend on setting one aside for Dawson.
Now a European medal is on its way to hero Dawson in the post for his part in West Ham’s unforgettable glory.
Just reward for one of the true heroes of West Ham’s rise to glory
That’s according to The Daily Mail.
“Whatever happens, the word inside the finalists’ camp is that one will be mailed to Craig Dawson, who left for Wolves in January,” the report states.
“Dawson has not heard anything official from his old club. But for this titanic central defender, all that matters is West Ham’s squad, staff and supporters celebrate a momentous night in the Czech capital.
“‘It was actually a Wolves fan who told me I’d get a medal,’ Dawson, 33, told Mail Sport.
Forget the Ballon, this is a real medal of honour for Dawson
“‘But I don’t know if that’s the case or not. I just hope they do it, win it and achieve something special together’.
“‘I’d be lying if I said I didn’t wish I could be in Prague to cheer on the lads. Instead I’ll be glued to my television screen at home with my football-mad son who will be trying to stay up and watch it!’”
What a man. Dawson played in four Conference League games this season.
And his medal will be fully deserved for the part he played in West Ham’s European adventure and top seven finishes in the Premier League over the previous two campaigns.
Dawson would undoubtedly have enjoyed watching Moyes dancing in Benrahma’s live stream from the changing room.
Meanwhile West Ham have confirmed details, timings and the route for their trophy parade in east London this evening.
