It is suggested that Hammers boss David Moyes is a big fan of the 22-year-old Gunners ace but Mikel Arteta is reluctant to let him leave the Emirates.
Rice has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal for a while now – and is allegedly excited at the prospect of joining the North London outfit.
If the 24-year-old does join the Gunners, it seems as though the Hammers might ask for a player in return…
Report makes big Emile Smith Rowe claim as Arsenal close in on West Ham star Declan Rice
The Sun reckon that the Hammers could ask the Gunners for the 22-year-old attacker in part exchange for Dec.
He can play pretty much anywhere along the front-line and is very highly regarded in north London.
Rio Ferdinand recently described the Gunners ace as a player who has done ‘unreal things’ (Daily Mail).
Smith Rowe has bagged 18 goals and 11 assists in 96 games for Arsenal (Transfermarkt). However, he barely played for the North London side last season.
The 22-year-old has suffered numerous injury problems at the start of the season and then struggled to force his way back into Arteta’s team.
The Arsenal ace is an incredibly gifted technician and he has a real eye for goal.
My only worry is that he is far from robust from a physical perspective, so if we were to sign him, I’d be looking for at least £70 million as well, with Rice heading in the opposite direction.
Emile Smith Rowe has the potential to be a great player for West Ham. My head tells me that we’d be better off just receiving the cash though.
