Reporter Gianluca Di Marzio has made a big new West Ham striker transfer claim after club denials over a Gianluca Scamacca report.
The future of Gianluca Scamacca at West Ham has looked seriously uncertain for some time now.
There has been a stream of claims about the Italian striker’s future beyond this summer.
When West Ham spent £35m to bring Scamacca to the London Stadium last summer it seemed like the perfect signing.
But after just 11 Premier League starts for the Hammers, the 6ft 5in Italian is being heavily linked with a move back to his homeland.
Striker Michail Antonio made some refreshingly honest if somewhat unwise and unhelpful comments about Scamacca’s situation recently.

And while David Moyes offered a frosty response to those comments, it has not stopped reports circulating that the 6ft 5in Italy international is destined to return to his homeland.
It was reported over the weekend that Roma are interested in signing Scamacca from the Hammers.
But reports that Jose Mourinho is hoping to sign him on loan with an option to buy were rejected by a reporter close to West Ham co-owner David Sullivan over the weekend.
There has been a fresh development in that situation according to a respected Italian journalist.

Scamacca future divides opinion at West Ham but Roma clearly keen
Di Marzio is now reporting that Scamacca would be happy to return to Roma – where he was once part of the youth setup.
Not only that, the reporter states that Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto – himself a rumoured Director of Football target for West Ham – will travel to London to hold talks about the player.
“He’ll hold a meeting with Scamacca’s agents and West Ham executives to potentially thrash out a loan deal,” Di Marzio states.
It’s clear Scamacca’s debut season did not quite go as he or the club would have hoped. But he did score some vital goals on West Ham’s run to Europa Conference League glory.
Some Hammers fans want to see the classy finisher given another season to prove his worth. Others believe – like Sebastien Haller before him – that his style simply does not suit West Ham or the Premier League.
West Ham and Roma will both play in the Europa League next season.
