West Ham may have found a perfect Ginaluca Scamacca swap deal in the shape of Roma wide player Nicola Zalewski. Roma are keen to repatriate the £35m front man to Italy and may have the perfect bargaining chip.
Zalewski is a talented player, but on the surface he appears to have enjoyed a less than average season in Rome. Despite a lot of game time for Jose Mourinho’s side, the youngster registered two goals and one assist in 47 matches .
Zalewski was tipped to be one of the most promising players in Europe, but has not pushed on. He can create some decent openings for others around him and can make a few clever runs with the ball out wide. However his numbers have been less than impressive this campaign.
The Polish 21 year old is primarily a left-sided wide player, but can also function on the right wing. However, there are some question marks over whether he would be able to handle the physical side of Premier League football.
West Ham could expect Zalewski to bring more energy and dynamism to The London Stadium. Manager David Moyes would certainly appreciate the players work-rate although he can’t compare to Harvey Barnes in terms of goals.
Nicola Zalewski could prove to be a great choice for the Hammers to pursue during this summer transfer. Whilst he might not have been as prolific as Jose would have hoped, he does have a lot of promise. At 21, the future is quite bright for the Polish wizkid as long as he continues to develop his all-around game with each season.
If a swap deal did occur, West Ham would still have to purchase a striker to replace Scamacca.
