With the fixtures for the 2023/24 season now published https://www.olbg.com/ has taken a look at the opening day records of the Premier League teams over the last 10 years.
Bournemouth have won 50 per cent of theirs and West Ham 30 per cent of theirs. If this is anything to go by, then Gary O’Neil’s side may just go into the season’s curtain raiser as favourites.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs are quick starters and there is hope for Luton, but the signs are not promising for Sheffield United and the Hammers.
Manchester City are the kings of the opening day fixtures over the last ten years – but fellow cash-rich rivals Newcastle have been stinking the place out in their first game.
Ideal platform for Manchester City
Research from OLBG has revealed City have won nine out of their last ten games at the start of a new season to give themselves an ideal platform to build on.
But when it comes to slow starters, Newcastle are rooted to the foot of the Premier League having collected a win just twice in a decade, tasting defeat seven times.
The usual suspects traditionally begin their campaigns the best, with Liverpool winning 80% of the first games and Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea all winning seven out of the last ten.
Arsenal buck the trend
But Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will hope to start bucking a trend which has seen them win five and lose five of their last ten matches in Matchday One – especially having won at Crystal Palace on opening day last season.
Newcomers Luton Town also have a 50% win record, while Burnley (30%) and Sheffield United (20%) will be hoping for better fortunes.
Newcastle United, who will also have the Champions League to contend with this summer, have one of the poorest records in the league, having won only 2 of their games. Fulham and Brentford also share a similar record to Newcastle.
