Our partners Blowing Bubbles Magazine are producing a special Conference League commemorative issue that will come out next week.
This will be a cracking issue, certainly one to cherish. You can pre-order your copy here: https://blowing-bubbles.co.uk/product/summer-2023-136/
Blowing Bubbles fanzine editor David Blackmore says: “I don’t know about you but I’m still very much on Cloud Nine after our historic win in Prague. In truth, I think I’m still recovering more than a week on from days of drinking, singing, and having very little sleep!
“I certainly haven’t been able to get much done this week with my mind drifting back to Prague, which has probably not been helped by endlessly scrolling through social media looking at everyone’s pictures and videos. And don’t ask me how many times I’ve watched the winning goal. As great as Bowen does to finish, the pass from Paqueta was incredible and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of watching it.
“I was lucky enough to be out in Prague with a group of friends and it really was a trip of a lifetime for our group. We’ve been travelling over land and sea to watch West Ham together since 2007, and like many of you, we’ve witnessed relegation, numerous relegation battles, and some semi final heartbreaks. There have also been the hopeless performances home and away in the league, and even worse cup performances against lower league sides.
“Sure, there have been a few highs along the way, winning the Championship playoff, our final season and final game at the Boleyn, and our European adventures over the past two seasons, but winning a European cup is next level, and that’s what we’re hoping to encapsulate with this Conference League commemorative special issue.
“There are plenty of laughs in this issue, plenty of memories shared and stories that we’ll be telling for years to come, like one Hammer missing Bowen’s winning goal because he was having a wee before extra time!
“We also hear from those who were there in Prague, those who went to the parade, those who watched from overseas – we’ve got every West Ham fan covered. We’ve also our usual end of season awards and specials like our A to Z of the season, school report and season review.”
Over the last decade, Blowing Bubbles – motto ‘By the fans, for the fans’ – has followed every twist and turn of the sometimes ecstatic and sometimes exasperating journey that has been West Ham’s progress, from Upton Park to the London Stadium, from Carroll to COVID, from Allardyce to Zouma.
Former players and managers have been happy to give the magazine their time, and two shortlist places for Fanzine of the Year at the Football Supporters’ Federation awards show that it is not just West Ham fans who are fans of Blowing Bubbles.
