Hugely exciting West Ham link to World Cup star Goncalo Ramos instantly dashed by Manchester United
Ramos has proved he is no one-trick pony with his stunning exploits at the Qatar World Cup.
The forward bagged 27 goals and 12 assists in 47 games for Benfica in the season just gone (Transfermarkt).
But the hugely exciting West Ham link to World Cup star Ramos has been instantly dashed by Manchester United.
And like my dreams they fade and die
Initially the reports stated Ramos had been offered to West Ham, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Spurs.
Given the Hammers have London appeal, Europa League football and could have their main starting striker slot to fill – it gave fans encouragement they could win that particular tussle.
But the report was soon updated as it emerged Mendes had also offered Ramos to Man United.
With claims of a reported £80m price tag also emerging it was clearly never a deal West Ham could realistically get involved in.
But it was nice while it lasted and no doubt a ploy by Mendes to ramp up interest, the price and package for his client if and when he does get a move.
