Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has told the club he wants to leave this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Toffees want to keep the 21-year-old following his impressive loan spell at PSV last season.
Football Insider revealed earlier this month (3 June) that Branthwaite is set for a chance in the Everton side following the departures of Conor Coady and Yerry Mina.
But Branthwaite is keen to join a team where he can play first-team football week-in, week-out.
West Ham have already registered their interest in the England Under-21 international.
Sources told Football Insider on 17 June that the Irons have launched an enquiry about his services as they search for a new centre-back this summer.
Football Insider revealed last month (25 May) that Everton priced PSV out of a permanent move for Branthwaite by asking for a fee of £5-6million for the defender.
However, it is believed that the 21-year-old’s price tag could be increased further following West Ham’s emergence as a potential destination.
Branthwaite played a big part for PSV in the 2022-23 campaign, making 37 appearances across all competitions – notching four goals and two assists as they lifted the Dutch Cup.
The centre-back was handed his first England Under-21s call-up earlier this month and is part of the squad for the Under-21 European Championships in Georgia and Romania.
He has made just 13 senior appearances for Everton – 10 of which have come in the Premier League.
The youngster’s contract at Goodison Park, which earns him a reported £15,000-a-week, is set to expire in June 2025.
Everton have already agreed to let one defender leave the club this summer.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (26 June) that Everton will allow Mason Holgate to go on loan next season amid interest from Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United.
