Fabrizio Romano hints at next Tottenham Hotspur signing this summer
Commenting on an Instagram post by The Spurs Express, popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham will next sign a centre-back in this transfer window.
The English club, now under the guidance of new manager Ange Postecoglou, has wasted no time in bolstering their squad this summer. Their first acquisition was Dejan Kulusevski, who made a triumphant return to Spurs from Juventus, securing a permanent deal with the club.
Shortly after securing Kulusevski’s signature, Tottenham completed the signing of Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli. The Italian’s arrival has fueled speculation that he will replace the long-serving custodian Hugo Lloris, providing competition and depth in the goalkeeping department.
The most recent addition to the Tottenham squad is the highly sought-after James Maddison. The creative midfielder joined the club in a deal worth £40 million, instantly becoming one of the standout signings of the summer.
Maddison’s technical ability and vision on the field will undoubtedly enhance Tottenham’s attacking prowess. Despite these notable acquisitions, Tottenham’s focus is now on strengthening their defence by adding a couple of top-class centre-backs to the roster.
Two names that have emerged in the transfer rumour mill are Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba, both highly regarded in their respective positions. However, amidst all the transfer speculations, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Tottenham’s next signing will indeed be a centre-back.
Securing a reliable centre-back would be a crucial step for Tottenham in fortifying their defensive line. Alongside their other summer signings, the addition of a strong defender would provide stability and a solid foundation for Postecoglou’s vision.
Furthermore, if Tottenham can convince their star striker, Harry Kane, to stay for another year, it would undoubtedly be a significant boost for the team’s ambitions. Postecoglou could have a real special project on his hands.
