Former Napoli star reveals the only ‘two clubs’ that Victor Osimhen would be willing to join this summer, as Europe’s top clubs prepare to battle it out for the Nigeria international
- A former Napoli star has said he thinks Victor Osimhen has two club options
- Salvatore Bagni does not expect Osimhen to return to either Germany or France
- And it is thought the Nigerian forward will insist on Champions League football
Victor Osimhen is only interested in trading Napoli for two clubs, according to a former legend of the Serie A side.
Salvatore Bagni, 66, was part of the Napoli side that won the Scudetto and Coppa Italia double in 1987, alongside the likes of Diego Maradona.
And this year, Osimhen and the current crop of Napoli players also lifted the Serie A title – and the Nigerian’s sharp shooting has made him a target for many of Europe’s top clubs.
But while many names have been suggested, Bagni told Tutto Napoli that he does not expect Osimhen to return to a country where he has already played – and will accept nothing less than Champions League football.
Bagni said: ‘Victor Osimhen won’t return to France because he already played there. The same thing with Germany.
Victor Osimhen has been linked to many clubs – but a Napoli legend thinks he has two options
After his goalscoring exploits in Italy, it is thought Osimhen wants a challenge in a new country
‘He doesn’t go to Liverpool or Chelsea because they do not play the Champions League.
‘Of all the teams associated with him, for me, he would only go to Manchester United and Real Madrid. He’s not interested in the other teams.’
Osimhen was linked with Bayern Munich, but started his senior career at Wolfsburg, while PSG’s hopes of nabbing the Nigerian may be hampered by the season the 24-year-old spent at Lille in 2019-2020 before joining Napoli, if Bagni’s prediction is to be believed.
Liverpool finished in fifth place in the Premier League last season, and will play Europa League football, while Chelsea will be absent from European competition completely after finishing 12th in the top-flight of English football.
Osimhen scored 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions for Napoli, making him one of the deadliest strikers in the continent.
