Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba remains at the top of Tottenham Hotspur defensive shortlist
Edmond Tapsoba, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, is still in the list for Tottenham Hotspur to bolster their backline this summer, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Burkina Faso international remains at the top of the North London side’s wishlist in the ongoing transfer window. However, it remains to be seen whether the Lilywhites will sign him.
Apart from the 24-year-old, Spurs are also in talks to sign Micky van de Ven from VfL Wolfsburg. Therefore, it is up to the club to decide who they will end up acquiring the services of, with the financial package playing a role in it.

Tapsoba developed in Portugal before moving to Germany in the summer of 2020. Over the years, the Burkinabe national has been a key player for the Bay Arena side.
Xabi Alonso’s team were impressive last season. They finished sixth in the league table. The Bundesliga outfit also made it to the Europa League semi-finals, eventually losing to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
Tapsoba was pivotal to the success Leverkusen enjoyed in the 2022/23 campaign. The 24-year-old made 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Tottenham have been poor defensively for some time now. Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies have featured a lot over the last two years in the back three. However, they have been inconsistent.
Clement Lenglet featured heavily for us last season. However, the French national was on loan at the club and is back at Barcelona right now. Davinson Sanchez is also in the North London side’s ranks. However, the Colombian wants to leave Spurs this summer.

Therefore, we evidently need to bolster our backline. Tapsoba is a promising option. But we could do with multiple additions. Thus, hopefully, Tottenham will stump up the finds for both the Burkinabe national and Van de Ven.
