Ben Jacobs has given West Ham great Harvey Barnes hope amidst reports claiming Newcastle are close to signing him.
Yesterday, the Telegraph reported that Newcastle are now in pole position to sign West Ham target Harvey Barnes in the summer transfer window.

In fact, they went as far to say the Magpies are all set to sign him for around £40 million from Leicester.
That would have been a big blow for Hammers boss David Moyes to stomach, and the fans of course.
However, it appears as though it’s not all over yet…
Journalist who broke Lucas Paqueta gives West Ham big Harvey Barnes hope amidst Newcastle claim
Ben Jacobs – the man who famously broke West Ham’s interest in signing Lucas Paqueta – has provided an update on the Barnes chase.
In spite admitting that the Toon are still front-runners for the 25-year-old’s signature, he did still offer some hope for the Hammers, when speaking to Football Fancast:
“I would say that Newcastle are very much in this race for Harvey Barnes, he’s been a long standing target and now that Leicester have gone down an exit is very likely. I wouldn’t discount Tottenham. And I think that West Ham and Aston Villa, are ones to watch.”
Now, Newcastle are clearly in the box seat, but nothing is done yet, and West Ham should still be trying to sign the Leicester ace.
Just last week it was suggested that the Hammers were in pole position for Barnes’ signature.
Things have clearly changed over the past couple of days, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of the race completely.
And if there is still hope of West Ham beating Newcastle to the signing of Harvey Barnes, then Moyes cannot wave the white flag just yet.
