A big Harry Maguire issue at Manchester United has seen West Ham United push hard for 6ft 5in man mountain Jonathan Tah instead.
West Ham are looking to sign a new centre-back this summer and Manchester United outcast Harry Maguire has been heavily linked.
Just over a week ago it was claimed that Maguire – who has been put up for sale by Man United boss Erik ten Hag – was one of three players West Ham were ‘zoning in on’ in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have also been linked with Torino’s Perr Schuur and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah.
But it seems that while it has been made clear to Maguire that he has no future at Manchester United, there is a stumbling block which is putting off interested clubs like West Ham.

And that big Maguire issue at Man United has seen West Ham push hard for 6ft 5in man mountain Tah instead it seems.
According to The Guardian, Maguire’s automatic pay rise at Old Trafford as a result of the Red Devils qualifying for the Champions League is making it difficult to sell the England man.
The report states that Ten Hag wants to offload Maguire to raise funds for signings. But the 30-year-old’s swollen wage packet is making a deal difficult for those showing interest.
As a result, West Ham have now been linked with a renewed push to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Tah.
David Moyes’ West Ham have been described as a ‘hot candidate’ to sign the German centre-back, who has an €18m (£15m) release clause valid until July 10th.
Harry Maguire to West Ham? No, Tah…
Saturday’s Rheinische Post claims West Ham want the 27-year-old.
And that should come as no surprise given West Ham have just appointed Bayer Leverkusen’s former sporting director Tim Steidten as their new technical director in charge of transfers and recruitment.
The report claims Tah wants to make a switch to the Premier League. And he could play alongside Germany teammate Thilo Kehrer at West Ham.
The newspaper states ‘West Ham in particular’ are keen to secure his services.
Interestingly given the clock is ticking down to July 10th, the report also claims that if Tah’s £15m clause is not triggered, it is still ‘conceivable’ he will change clubs before the window closes.
