West Ham got their pre-season underway with a 4-1 victory at Boreham Wood.
Goals in the first half from Danny Ings and Kamarai Swyer were followed by second-half finishes from Jarrod Bowen and Gideon Kodua.
The hosts got a consolation for the 2,700 in attendance via Femi Ilesanmi but it wasn’t enough to get the better of a strong West Ham side.
Lukasz Fabianski, Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell, Pablo Fornals, and Gianluca Scamacca all started in the rout for the Hammers at Meadow Park, with Emerson coming off the bench.
It was Scamacca’s first appearance in a West Ham kit since March after injuries plagued his 2022-23 campaign. His last Premier League outing was in January.

David Moyes gave several young players an opportunity to shine. Twenty-year-old midfielder Swyer and winger Kodua, 18, will be pleased to get on the scoresheet.
Conor Coventry, who spent last season on loan at Rotherham, got the assist for Bowen’s goal.
On a successful day at the office for the Hammers, Ings could be seen sporting the results so far of his recent £17,000 hair transplant.
