Tottenham Hotspur honcho Daniel Levy meets Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen regarding Harry Kane
According to The Athletic (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur honcho Daniel Levy has met Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen regarding star striker Harry Kane.
The English skipper is currently in the final year of his contract in north London. Unless fresh terms are penned, we risk losing him for free in a year’s time.
While several clubs are interested in Kane, one team who continue to show keen interest is Bayern Munich. The Germans failed to adequately replace Robert Lewandowski last summer and are still in the market for a striker.
Signing Sadio Mane from Liverpool has not had the desired effect at the Allianz Arena. With the Senegalese star’s future far from certain, the Germans could upgrade their roster by adding Kane to the ranks.
One of the best number nines in world football, the 29-year-old is a prolific scorer with a keen eye for goal. He has also added creativity to his armoury and is as complete a frontman as any in world football today.
Despite the meeting between the two club honchos, a bid is yet to be lodged. Tottenham had earlier rejected two offers from the Germans for the English marksman. Spurs and Die Roten share a good relationship and it remains to be seen if common ground can be reached.
Losing Kane for free next summer is unfathomable and it is in our best interests to cash in on him this summer. Unless the 29-year-old is keen to extend his contract, it makes sense for us to sell him and reinvest in the squad. With or without Kane, the club needs to move forward.
