Tottenham 2-3 West Ham: Gianluca Scamacca, Danny Ings and Divin Mubamba hand Hammers win over Spurs in Perth, as Ange Postecoglou falls to defeat in first game in charge
- West Ham triumphed in their five-goal thriller against Tottenham on Tuesday
- Danny Ings, Gianluca Scamacca and Divin Mubamba all found the back of the net
- Giovanni Lo Celso and Destiny Udogie nearly clawed back a draw for Tottenham
Ange Postecoglou‘s Tottenham side fell to a 3-2 defeat against rivals West Ham in the Australian’s first game in charge at the club.
Postecoglou watched on Spurs were narrowly beaten by their London rivals in a closely contested match at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.
Gianluca Scamacca, Danny Ings and Divin Mubamba were all on target for David Moyes’ side, as they cruised to a third-successive pre-season victory.
Spurs, meanwhile, nearly rescued a draw through second-half strikes from Giovanni Lo Celso and Destiny Udogie but it was too little, too late for the north London side.
There’ll still be plenty of positives for Spurs fans to look back on, after getting a glimpse of their new attacking-style in action for the first time.

Tottenham started the brighter of the two sides and had a handful of chances – through the likes of Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp – to open the scoring.
However, their new-look side – which had debutants such as Guglielmo Vicario, James Maddison and Manor Solomon – failed to gel straight away and, instead, came undone half-way through the first-half.
After dominating the early proceedings, Spurs were struck on the counter-attack by West Ham – who took the lead through Danny Ings.
The former Southampton and Aston Villa striker snuck in at the back-post to get on the end of a Jarrod Bowen cross and nod past debutant Vicario.
The Hammers doubled their advantage just two minutes later after Divin Mubamba rose highest and headed past Vicario from a corner.
Spurs fans were particularly brutal when reflecting on the goal on social media, as many took aim at the sloppy defending from their back-line.
Despite trailing by two-goals at half-time, Spurs arguably were the better side and had created more clear-cut chances – they’d simply failed to take them.

Postecoglou took matters into his own hands at half-time and made 11 changes to the Spurs line-up – replacing everyone from goalkeeper to striker.
Postecoglou’s call helped Spurs maintain control throughout the second-half, before they struck twice to level the scoring.
The first came through Argentina midfielder Giovanni Lo Celso, who leathered the ball past Lukas Fabianski in the 69th minute.
It was an impressive cameo for the former PSG playmaker – who had been expected to play a bit-part role upon his return to Tottenham.
Just two minutes later and Postecoglou’s side were level as Italian full-back Destiny Udogie – who spent last year on loan with Udinese – headed home from a corner.
The Italy U21 star flicked his header backwards and watched it loop over Fabianski – and a handful of West Ham defenders – before nestling in the back of the net.
Brazilian striker Richarlison had a handful of chances throughout the match but failed to score
It would’ve been the perfect second-half for Postecoglou however, his return to Australia was spoiled shortly after by substitute Gianluca Scamacca.
The Italian striker – who joined the Hammers from Sassuolo last year – raced through on goal and placed his effort past Brandon Austin to give West Ham the win.
It was a third win of pre-season for David Moyes’ side – who recently claimed victory over Boreham Wood and Perth Glory.
Spurs, meanwhile, will take on Leicester on Sunday before a clash against Lion City Sailors FC next week.
