Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski endorses Bayern Munich’s move for Tottenham ace Harry Kane
Former Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski has spoken in an interview endorsing a potential move for Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
The German believes that the England star would be the perfect addition to his former club’s squad. Podolski’s endorsement comes in response to statements made by Bayern Munich’s honorary president, Uli Hoeness.
Known for his straightforward nature, Hoeness suggested that there might be substance behind the rumours linking Kane to Bayern Munich. He went as far as suggesting that he expects Kane to join them if he can.
The former Arsenal striker went on to highlight Kane’s suitability for Bayern Munich. He hinted that the English number nine has the kind of game that would suit Thomas Tuchel’s tactical setup.
When quizzed about the prospect of Kane joining the German giants, here is what Podolski said
“I think so. For Bayern, Harry Kane is the only striker who can really help them. He’s at the right age, the classic No9, and he scores the goals – a player who fits perfectly with Bayern.”
Hoeness had previously made controversial comments, claiming that Kane had already made up his mind about joining Bayern Munich. The honorary president also took the opportunity to criticize Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy for employing time-wasting tactics during negotiations.
Bayern Munich’s need for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who departed for Barcelona last summer, is becoming increasingly urgent. They struggled in the absence of a reference point in attack last season.
Tottenham and Daniel Levy are still hoping that they somehow manage to retain Kane. This is also the reason why the Spurs chairman is buying time in the negotiations with the German club and not giving in easily.
