Brentford striker Ivan Toney on Tottenham Hotspur list to replace Harry Kane
Tottenham Hotspur have Brentford star Ivan Toney on their list as a potential replacement for Harry Kane this summer, according to Football Transfers (h/t BBC).
Spurs’ 29-year-old is currently in the final year of his current contract at the club. As things stand, Bayern Munich are interested in acquiring the England international’s services in the ongoing transfer window.
Therefore, if he were to leave the North London side in the coming weeks, the Lilywhites could make a move to sign Toney. But at the moment, the 27-year-old is banned from football until January.
Brentford have managed to survive the drop over the last two seasons after gaining promotion from the Championship. Thomas Frank’s team were impressive last season and the England international was their talisman.
Toney posted excellent numbers last season for the Bees. The forward has grown from strength to strength over the years and took his game to the next level in the 2022/23 campaign.
The English national made 35 appearances in all competitions for the Gtech Community stadium side, scoring 21 goals and providing five assists. In March, the 27-year-old also made his debut for the Three Lions.
While Toney is arguably nowhere near Kane’s level, it will evidently be hard for Tottenham to replace the English skipper once he eventually leaves. The Tottenham academy graduate has been consistently banging in goals for us over the years.
In the previous campaign, the 29-year-old was the only reliable player for us. Thus, his potential exit will be a big blow for us. But Brentford’s striker has showcased his quality as well in the Premier League.

Toney possesses the ability to be a decent number nine in the English top flight. However, considering his ban, whether the Lilywhites will make a move for the 27-year-old remains to be seen.
