West Ham have been dealt a crushing blow by sudden breaking Newcastle transfer news as Harvey Barnes edges closer to done deal.
West Ham have been battling Newcastle United for Harvey Barnes in the summer transfer window.
Last month journalist Matt Law had claimed West Ham were leading the race for Barnes, but warned Newcastle were also circling.
Both The Telegraph and talkSPORT also claimed West Ham were closing in on the exciting capture of Barnes.
That changed, though, when the Hammers were stalled by the delay in the Declan Rice transfer and The Telegraph reported the Magpies had taken advantage to become the new frontrunners for the exciting 25-year-old.

Sky Sports’ north east reporter Keith Downie set the record straight on the situation and made it clear that Newcastle had not even submitted a bid for Barnes as they battled to balance the books before making an offer.
Reports then emerged claiming Barnes preferred London while Newcastle were linked with other left-sided attackers such as Moussa Diaby, Federico Chiesa and Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
So when football journalist Rudy Galetti stated West Ham were still very much in the race with Newcastle it gave fans great hope.
That hope is dead in the water this evening, though.

ASM out and Barnes in at Newcastle as wait goes on for West Ham transfers
Having agreed the sale of Allan Saint-Maximin, Sky Sports are reporting the breaking news on Wednesday night that Newcastle are on the verge of completing a deal for Barnes.
The report claims the two clubs are close to agreeing a compromise on the fee and structure of the deal, Barnes is keen on the move and personal terms are not an issue.
“Newcastle are edging closer to a deal with Leicester for Harvey Barnes – with the England winger now the likely replacement for Allan Saint-Maximin at St James’ Park…” Sky Sports reports.
“Barnes is thought to be keen on a move to the North East, and the prospect of playing in the Champions League instead of Championship football.
“It’s not thought that personal terms would be an issue if Newcastle and Leicester can come to an agreement.”
It is yet another blow for West Ham who are yet to make a single signing this window.
