West Ham United are chasing the signing of Ajax ace Edson Alvarez, but the move has been held up by agent fees.
According to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, West Ham are meeting resistance during talks to sign Edson Alvarez from Ajax in the summer transfer window due to the fees being demanded from agent and intermediaries.

Hammers manager David Moyes quite simply has to sign an elite defensive midfielder before the transfer window slams shut this summer, with Declan Rice having left to join Arsenal.
It seems as though Alvarez is the man the Scot wants, but there’s a big problem…
Hugely concerning Edson Alvarez rumours swirl as West Ham transfer window descends into farce
Jacob Steinberg claims the Hammers are hitting a brick wall in our pursuit of the Mexico International, with demands from agents proving to be too costly as things stand.
West Ham need to find a way of just getting this one done. I believe the 25-year-old Ajax star would be a really strong addition to Moyes’s ranks.
Described by The Daily Mail as an ‘exceptional’ holding midfielder who breaks up play, Alvarez would be a superb replacement for Rice at the London Stadium.
He is a tenacious tackler and has energy, stamina and athleticism in abundance. The 25-year-old would be the perfect signing for the Hammers, and if Moyes brings in a top-class box-to-box midfielder as well, there’s no reason why we can’t improve as a team after Rice’s exit.
The Ajax ace isn’t as good as Rice in possession, but if he is playing as purely a defensive midfield destroyer, he doesn’t need to be.
West Ham signing Edson Alvarez for £38 million this summer is an absolute no-brainer as far as I’m concerned.
Hopefully the agents involved in the deal lower their demands and enable this deal to go through smoothly before the start of the new season.
