West Ham have been dealt a double blow in the race for Jean-Clair Todibo with Nice raising their asking price and Newcastle now trying to sign him.
According to a report from Nice-Matin, Newcastle want to sign the 23-year-old West Ham target in the summer transfer window, with Nice now demanding around €40-50 million (£34-43 million).

Double West Ham blow as Newcastle eye ‘incredible’ Jean-Clair Todibo
Sport recently claimed that he will cost any prospective buyers around £26 million.
However, Nice have raised that asking price by a minimum of £8 million this summer. He could cost as much as £43 million as well!
I just can’t see West Ham spending that kind of money on a centre-back this summer, in spite of the fact that Todibo would be an excellent addition to Moyes’s ranks.
However, it could be a moot point anyway with Newcastle now in the race for his signature as well. That’s a real shame as far as I’m concerned. The Nice star is exactly the kind of player Moyes should be trying to sign.
The Frenchman is very strong in the air, really quick along the ground and tenacious in the tackle.
In 34 Ligue 1 outings for Nice last season, Tobido averaged 2.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per game (Who Scored).
Football Espana recently described the former Barca man as an ‘incredible’ defender.
Jean-Clair Todibo is incredibly strong, and is perfectly suited to the physical nature and intense speed of Premier League football.
The fact that Nice have upped their asking price is bad news for West Ham though, and with Newcastle now chasing his signature it may well be mission impossible for us this summer.
