West Ham Ward-Prowse talks update
Southampton are continuing to insist that James-Ward Prowse will remain at the club unless they receive a bid close to £40 million.
The midfielder is keen on a move to the Hammers but beyond the transfer fee the player is understood to want personal terms in excess of £100,00 a week which could well be too rich for the West Ham blood.
It means – were the Irons to agree terms on the fee and personal terms wanted over a four year contract – they would be paying around £60 million for the 28 year old,
Like Harry Maguire, the player would have little sell on value at the age of 32 which is why the Hammers are doing what they can to reach a compromise on the fee initially.
We understand that David Moyes has made it clear that he is only interested in bringing in Premier League proven players which suggests technical director Tim Steidten’s hands may be tied.
In the meantime we understand that the manager is continuing to use Rob Newman as a head of recruitment with the club explaining that he is still on board.
