There’s a new bidding war for a West Ham star after a Spurs deal collapse as Nottingham Forest make a move for Aaron Cresswell.
Tottenham Hotspur may have inadvertently helped solve a major West Ham problem in the summer transfer window.
Although West Ham have desperately needed young, modern new full-backs for several years, it came as something of a surprise when news broke of interest from Wolves in Aaron Cresswell recently.
Even more surprising has been Cresswell’s behaviour in trying to force a move away from the Hammers.
The experienced defender has been missing from training for two weeks as he insists on being allowed to leave.
Cresswell has even reportedly made a direct plea to West Ham majority owner David Sullivan to sanction the Wolves move.

But West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers have been unable to agree on a fee with the Hammers looking for £5m.
Now a situation at Tottenham looks to have offered a timely solution.
Because there’s a new bidding war for the West Ham star after a Spurs deal collapse as Nottingham Forest make a move for Cresswell.
According to journalist Alan Nixon, Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper is looking for a player to cover that position in his squad after a deal for Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon collapsed as a result an injured he suffered.
Tottenham left-back Sessegnon had surgery on a hamstring injury last month which will keep him out of the start of the season according to The Daily Mail.
The collapse of that deal has seen Forest enter the running to take Cresswell off West Ham’s hands.
Writing on his Patreon account, Nixon says Forest are ready to rival Wolves to sign Cresswell. But West Ham are insisting their valuation is met and don’t want any deal made up of add-ons.
Nixon also confirms Cresswell continues to stay away from the West Ham first team in what is becoming an acrimonious departure for the club’s longest serving player.
One that bitter rivals Tottenham may have rather ironically helped solve.
