Liverpool are stepping up their chase to sign Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure, according to reports.
The Reds recently missed out on first-choice targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, who both opted to join Premier League rivals Chelsea in the last week.
Their decisions to join the Blues leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side short on defensive midfield options but the Reds boss looks to have devised a plan to solve that.
According to The Independent, Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of the Selhurst Park star.
The outlet claim that the Eagles could demand up to £60million for the Mali international, amid a number of outgoings for the south London club.

Wilfried Zaha left for Galatasaray at the start of the window, Michael Olise has had his release clause triggered by Chelsea and Eberechi Eze has drawn Spurs interest.
Mail Sport revealed last month that Doucoure had emerged as a leading midfield candidate amid the club’s recent rebuild.
Doucoure has become a key player for the Eagles in his 12 months at the club, and there is a feeling with the right additions the club could push for a minimum top 10 finish next season.
Doucoure arrived at Selhurst Park from Lens for £18million last summer but it’s likely the Eagles will demand more given the ongoing midfield transfer cycle.
The midfielder enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in the Premier League and won the Crystal Palace F.C. Player of the Year award just a few months ago.
The Reds have missed out on both Caicedo and Lavia after both players opted to join west London giants Chelsea.
Southampton star and Belgian international Lavia is due to undergo his Chelsea medical later today.
The Blues have struck a £58million agreement with the Saints to sign the Belgian international and are hoping to finalise a deal soon.
Southampton’s Romeo Lavia had been subject to interest from Liverpool prior to Chelsea move
Lavia spent some time back in Belgium before returning to England for his medical with the west London giants.
Palace have already welcomed one central midfielder in the form of Jefferson Lerma – who arrived for free from Bournemouth – but would likely strengthen again if Doucoure is sold.
The Reds have been undergoing a midfield rebuild this summer and have already welcomed the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
With the likes of Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and potentially Jordan Henderson all departing the Merseyside club this summer, there’s a serious need to reinforce their midfield.
