Tottenham Hotspur target Perr Schuurs now eyed by North London rivals Arsenal
As per Dean Jones in Ranks FC Ultras Podcast (h/t Football London), Arsenal would eye a move for Torino defender and Tottenham Hotspur target Perr Schuurs during this transfer window.
One can understand why the Gunners are in the market for a defender in this window. They have just lost new recruit Jurrien Timber on a long-term basis after he picked up an ACL injury during his debut against Nottingham Forest last Saturday.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are keeping an eye on Schuurs as they aim to bolster that department. Micky van de Ven has been the only addition in central defence this summer so far.
With Davinson Sanchez’s future at the club in doubt, there is a case to be made for Spurs to go hard at signing Schuurs in the coming days.
Earlier in the window, the 23-year-old attracted interest from Liverpool. But, we haven’t seen much of that link in the past few weeks.
The young Dutch international started his career at Fortuna in his home country before moving to Ajax. He had a couple of seasons there before signing for Torino last summer.
Schuurs is a centre-back who is comfortable operating on either side. He is good on the ball, has the recovery pace to play in a high line and reads the game reasonably well. At 23, there is still a lot he can improve. But, the Dutchman already has a lot to admire about his game.

It is believed that Torino value him at £25m. If that is the case in addition to Tottenham’s need for another centre-back, the club should do all they can to beat Arsenal to signing the 23-year-old.
