Tottenham Hotspur won’t sell Pape Matar Sarr despite receiving four offers for him
According to a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are adamant about not selling midfielder Pape Matar Sarr despite receiving four offers for him this summer.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou also sees the player in that light and does not want to give a green flag for his exit.
Sarr was exceptional in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday. He scored the opening goal after making a late run in the box and dominated the midfield alongside Yves Bissouma.
Even though he is only 20, the Senegal international showed his class on and off the ball against the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount.
There is a reason why Postecoglou is not interested in letting him go. If he continues to develop and put in more performances like that, Spurs would finish well in the league.
Sarr is a type of box-to-box midfielder who could excel working under a front-foot manager like Postecoglou. He struggled under Antonio Conte last season and didn’t play much in that restrictive deep midfield role.
The goal he scored on Saturday is a representation of how he is as a player. If the manager is ready to give him that freedom, we can expect a lot more from him in the final third in the coming weeks and months.
With Rodrigo Bentancur still recovering from an ACL injury and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, Tottenham would need someone like Sarr to step up and make one of the midfield positions his own.

Keeping all these things in mind, it is understood why the club and Postecoglou have no interest in letting the 20-year-old despite the number of offers. The latter also shows how many clubs are keen on signing a player of his quality.
