Everton join Luton Town in Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga race
Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga is attracting interest from Premier League rivals Everton, according to Italian outlet Inter Live.
Apart from the Toffees, newly promoted Luton Town are also in the race to acquire the 24-year-old’s services. The Bedfordshire-based club are hoping to get a hold of the centre-back’s signature on loan.
As things stand, the Kenilworth Road side are leading the pursuit of the English national. However, they will now have to compete with the Merseyside outfit, which arguably spells good news for the North London side.
Inter Milan also admire Tanganga. However, the Nerazzurri have opted to pursue another player. The Serie A giants are looking to add Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard to their ranks.
Early indications of the new season suggest that both Everton and Luton will have a tough time trying to survive the drop from the Premier League. Therefore, it will be interesting to see which destination Tanganga will choose.
The versatile defender made his way through the youth ranks at Tottenham. For some time now, the English national has been in and around Spurs’ first-team setup. However, the centre-back has been unable to carve a place out for himself in the team.
Tanaganga has also experienced multiple fitness issues during his time at the North London side. The lack of action has seemingly hampered the defender’s development in recent seasons.
At the moment, Tottenham could do with depth in the central defensive positions. We have signed Micky van de Ven this summer. But the Lilywhites still evidently lack numbers in the backline.

Cristian Romero has been injury prone since moving to the North London side, while Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier have been inconsistent for some time now. But considering Tanganga’s future prospects at the club, it would be wise to let him leave and get minutes on the pitch.
