Everton are pushing to move midfielder Andre Gomes on before transfer windows slam shut worldwide, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders sanctioned the exit of winger Demerai Gray, 27, on Thursday (7 September) – with the ex-Leicester man joining Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq.
And Gomes is set to become the next player to go as he is out of favour with manager Sean Dyche.
The 30-year-old Portugal international is a high earner at Goodison Park.
He reportedly earns more than £110,000-a-week on a contract which runs until June 2024.
That is despite last playing for Everton in May 2022.
Gomes spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Lille, making 27 appearances and registering three goals and two assists.
The French side decided against pursuing a permanent move for the Benfica youth product.
He has made 100 total appearances for Everton since joining the club from Barcelona on an initial loan in 2018.
Gomes has racked up two goals and seven assists in a Toffees shirt.
The midfielder cost £22million when he signed permanently in 2019, signing a five-year deal.
Midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin was released by Everton earlier this summer after unsuccessful attempts to find him a new club.
Moise Kean, Alex Iwobi, Tom Cannon, Ellis Simms and Niels Nkounkou are among the stars to also leave Goodison Park since the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
On the pitch, Sean Dyche’s side are yet to record a Premier League win this season.
The Toffees face Arsenal after the international break (17 September).
