Giovani Lo Celso is ready to call it quits at Tottenham Hotspur
According to Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur star Giovani Lo Celso is ready to call it quits at the N17 and return to La Liga.
The Argentine midfielder has struggled to make an impact in North London and is a far shadow of the player who impressed while at Real Betis. In his three years at Spurs so far, he has made just 86 appearances, scoring eight goals and assisting six apiece.
Lo Celso never quite got going at the Lane and spent a season and a half back in the La Liga, on loan at Villarreal. Now back at Spurs, he is not close to breaking into the playing XI.
In fact, the 27-year-old has played just 51 minutes for Tottenham this season. His lone start came in the Carabao Cup loss to Fulham where he was pulled at half-time. Despite a strong pre-season, it would appear that Ange Postecoglou does not fancy the Argentine star.
With the January transfer window nearing, the player is keen to end his Tottenham nightmare and return to Real Betis. Despite interest from elsewhere, the midfielder believes he will have better chances of playing regularly for Manuel Pellegrini.
Betis were also keen on Lo Celso in the summer but a deal failed to materialise thanks to Tottenham’s transfer demands. It now remains to be seen if Daniel Levy will blink ahead of the January window.
The arrival of James Maddison has more or less locked in the number ten role in the Spurs lineup. A parting of the ways would be the best solution for both Lo Celso and Tottenham next January.

Tottenham under Postecoglou are a breath of fresh air and continue to impress. We have little need of players who aren’t part of the long term plans. It makes sense for us to cash in on Lo Celso and reinvest it back into a squad that is showing much promise.
