Festival Fixture Changes Incoming This Week?
Last week, a solitary Aston Villa fixture change was announced with Villa’s trip to the Vitality Stadium to play Bournemouth being pushed back to a Sunday, due to their involvement in the Europa Conference League. The game now takes place on Sunday, December 3, with the match kicking off at 2pm.
It was expected that the majority of the festive fixture changes were going to be announced, but MOMS understands that this will be made this week. The delay is apparently down to one fixture that needs to be ironed out. It’s believed to be the mooted moving of the Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea game to Christmas Eve, which has attracted controversy behind the scenes.
With the UK closing down early for the next day’s festivities – be it shops and transport – it’s hardly convenient for the match-going fan.
It’ll certainly be interesting to see what the final decision is on the game and to see if Aston Villa will now attract increased interest from the likes of Sky Sports, over the festive period due to their impressive recent results.
With European competition being expanded soon and the new TV deal on the horizon likely to pump up the number of televised Premier League games from 200 to 270, match-going supporters can expect further disruption to their routines, as the game continues to move in tune with the broadcast beat.
