Chelsea were cruising at 2-0 up before a goal conceded and a red card sent them into a spiral against Brighton this afternoon.
It seems that the red was more than just bad judgment from Conor Gallagher in terms of getting a silly second yellow. Carrie Brown of BeinSports reported that there was lots of “sniping” between players on both teams, with the away team successfully agitating an immature Chelsea.
“Brighton really got under the skin of Chelsea,” Brown claimed.

Apparently it was Levi Colwill who was the target of quite a lot of barbs from the Seagulls players who were his teammates just a year ago. He was able to shrug it off – easily done when you’ve scored a goal – but the nerves and agitation stopped Chelsea taking advantage, and their comfort at 2-0 quickly dissolved.
The lack of maturity in this team becomes clearer every week.
