Chelsea were pretty terrible against Manchester United last night, and in particular the midfield was unable to put up any sort of fight against the Red Devils.
Ally McCoist was on punditry duties for Amazon Prime, and he was pretty disappointed by what he saw from both Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez in the middle of the park.
“I’m a little bit disappointed in Fernandez and Caicedo in the middle of the park for Chelsea. I definitely think you’re looking for a little bit more for your quarter of a billion.”
Missing Conor Gallagher was clearly a big blow for the side. His energy and his understanding of how to lead the press from the front is vital, and without him it just felt like we were totally naked and exposed through the middle.
Man U were in a similar situation, but at least they made the most of it and cut through us far more effectively than we cut through them.
It’s hard to disagree with Ally, and it’s hard to imagine the owners saying anything different as they look at their investment.
