Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up for Thursday’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou will welcome Destiny Udogie back from suspension when the Lilywhites take on Brighton & Hove Albion in Thursday’s Premier League encounter at the Amex Stadium.
The Italian missed last weekend’s 2-1 beating of Everton due to an accumulation of bookings, but Yves Bissouma is still on the disciplinary list as he serves the second of a four-game domestic ban.
None of Manor Solomon (knee), Ivan Perisic (knee), Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Rodrigo Bentancur (ankle), James Maddison (ankle), Micky van de Ven (thigh) or Alfie Whiteman (ankle) will be returning before the New Year either, and late checks will also need to be made on Richarlison and Cristian Romero.
Romero was substituted at half time against the Toffees with a tight hamstring, but he is expected to be passed fit to join Ben Davies as the protective shield for Guglielmo Vicario, whose heroics against Everton were rightly lauded.
Pedro Porro‘s spot on the right is safe, and while Emerson Royal did a sterling job at left-back in the absence of Udogie last time out, the Brazilian will likely make way for his returning teammate this week.
Oliver Skipp should again be given the nod to join Pape Sarr in the engine room as Bissouma remains in the naughty corner, with Dejan Kulusevski operating as Tottenham’s creative focal point in the number 10 role.
Assuming Richarlison’s sore back does not turn into anything more severe, the South American will seek to stretch his scoring streak to four games at the tip of the attack, supported by Brennan Johnson and Son Heung-min.
Tottenham Hotspur possible starting lineup: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Davies, Udogie; Skipp, Sarr; Johnson, Kulusevski, Son; Richarlison
