French club Strasbourg have pulled off a major coup on transfer deadline day in securing a loan deal for Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos. Santos had spent a period on loan at Nottingham Forest, was recalled, and then immediately sent back out on loan to the French side.
Santos arrived at Chelsea only last year from Brazilian club Vasco De Gama, at whom he had impressed and forced his way into the club’s starting XI aged just 17. Chelsea are keen to continue Santos’ development and see a move to Ligue 1 as a great step for the Rio de Janiero-born young attacker.
With one cap to his name, Santos is hopeful that Brazil’s national team selectors will be able to watch him play on a regular basis in France. Santos is currently at a pre-Olympic qualifying tournament. Strasbourg are Chelsea‘s feeder club, and the Blues have an agreement to loan talent to France.
It is understood that Chelsea‘s managerial team all still have high hopes for Andrey Santos, and that 2024-25 could be the season that he receives an opportunity in the Blues’ Premier League squad.
