Former Arsenal and Middlesbrough forward Chuba Akpom could be set for a shock return to the Premier League as Nottingham Forest have tabled a last ditch 10 million euro bid to sign the 28-year-old striker from Ajax. In Amsterdam, the forward has scored 5 goals in 13 Eredivisie games and is reportedly desperate for a return to England. Akpom also had stints playing in Greece for PAOK Salonika, where he became somewhat of a cult hero.
Akpom knows that with his 29th birthday coming up this year, he has a short window in which to show his talents in the Premier League, and the surprise interest of Forest will give him an opportunity in the top flight of European football.
It is understood that Ajax are not in a rush to sell Akpom, and could reject any bids for the former England under-21 striker, as the player has only just arrived at the Amsterdam Arena.,
However, Akpom is said to be ready for a return to England. He had hoped to have one last chance in the Premier League despite having spent more than four years outside of the United Kingdom.
