Manchester City fullback Yan Couto is being pursued by Arsenal, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona, according to the Corriere Dello Sport (via JuventusNews24.com).
The Brazilian international has spent two years on loan at Girona and he caught the eye last season, scoring 2 goals and providing 10 assists in 39 appearances.
Couto was part of a team that looked like contending for the La Liga title before their challenge faltered in the closing months of the campaign.
His form was, however, enough for him to become part of Brazil’s senior setup, making his debut in October before being named in the squad for the Copa America.
Although Couto has not featured in the tournament so far, being an unused substitute in the first two group games, the fact that he is in the United States at all demonstrates the progress that he has made.
City could be tempted to sell Couto
Due to the interest being shown in the 22-year-old, it is believed that the Premier League champions will consider offloading him, but only if their valuation is met.
The Cityzens will reportedly demand around £40m for Couto, which is considerably more than the €6m they spent to bring him in from Coritiba back in July 2020.
Will City sell the defender to Arsenal?
The Gunners have recruited two players from Pep Guardiola’s side over the past two years, with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus having made the move to the Emirates.
At the time, though, the London club were not deemed as title rivals. It’s a very different situation now. If City do decide to sell Couto over the coming weeks, they would likely prefer him to make the switch abroad. It remains to seen, though, whether any team will be prepared to spend £40m on him.
