Manchester City winger Jack Grealish is not being pursued by Arsenal, according to Manchester Evening News reporter Simon Bajkowski.
There have been rumours that the club’s record signing could be sold, prompting suggestions that the Gunners could make a swoop for the England international, but Bajkowski says there are no credible links:
“Arsenal are one of a few clubs that could afford him, but their interest appears to have been either misinterpreted or manufactured from an opinion piece on a website rather than backed by any actual news or facts.”
Grealish struggled last season, scoring just 3 goals and providing 3 assists, which is not what you would expect from a player who cost £100m. For that reason, it is not a surprise that his place in City’s squad has come under scrutiny.
Savio’s arrival could further reduce Grealish’s game time
The 28-year-old has already seen his minutes go down, having played just 2114 in all competitions during the 2023/24 campaign, which was 1372 fewer than in 2022/23.
With Savio set to arrive from Troyes, Grealish may find matches even harder to come by next season. The Brazilian played exceptionally well playing off the left wing on loan at Girona and he will certainly be in contention for starts in the Premier League.
Could the City star return to his former club?
Aston Villa have been tipped to re-sign Grealish but the Midlands side are struggling with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules at the moment. They were forced to sell Douglas Luiz (to Juventus) and youngster Omari Kellyman (to Chelsea) last month in order to balance the books.
A loan, with an obligation to buy next year, could be considered but that wouldn’t really benefit City. The likeliest scenario is that the winger will remain at the Etihad for another twelve months.
