Barcelona are the team “leading the race” to sign Manchester City transfer target Dani Olmo, according to Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze.
There were reports suggesting that Pep Guardiola’s side had tabled a bid for the Spanish international but Hinze posted on X to say that the only offer has come from Barca so far:
Reports about an Man City offer to @RBLeipzig for Dani Olmo. According to our information, this is not true. As of now, there is no City offer to Leipzig. ❌📑

It is believed that Barcelona’s offer matched Leipzig’s asking price of €60m (£50.6m) but it included two add-ons that were very difficult to achieve. €10m (£8.4m) would be due if the Catalan club won the La Liga title twice in the next 5 years, and another €10m (£8.4m) would be paid if they lifted the Champions League twice during the same period.
Will City make an offer for Olmo?
At this stage, it doesn’t seem like the Premier League champions will battle Barcelona or other clubs (such as Chelsea) to sign the 26-year-old.
It is believed that Olmo was being looked at if either Kevin De Bruyne or Bernardo Silva left the Etihad Stadium this summer but both players look like they will be staying.
A quiet summer in the transfer market
After selling Sergio Gomez to Real Sociedad, it was suggested that a new left-back could be brought in but it is likely to be a young player who may not be ready for the first team.
For the time being, it appears as though Savinho will be the only major signing, although things could still change over the coming weeks. Both Ederson and Julian Alvarez are pressing for moves away from the club so replacements may be needed for them if they are sold.
