He really is an unstoppable force, isn’t he? Those who saw Thomas Müller run the show against SSV Ulm in the DFB-Pokal for Bayern Munich may have been reminded of any of his performances in his past 15 years for Bayern.
Though elements of his game have changed over the years, the image of the Bavarian #25 leading the press, shouting instructions and launching himself at an opposition player with total fearlessness have been ever present elements of the irrepressible German’s game. It’s the attitude; he retains the exuberance of a child along with the maturity of an adult that forms an incredible combination.
And it is that attitude that Kompany highlighted after the game when asked about Müller, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, even omitting the two goals he scored in the game. It seemed that there was something else that so impressed the Belgian coach: “Thomas is a player who is always motivated. For him, today was like a Champions League final and that’s also how he played. That’s exactly the attitude we need.”
That attitude helped Bayern to a comfortable win today and bodes well for the future. If it could buoy Bayern to an actual Champions League final and help the club win the Finale Dahoam…well, that we will have to see.
