Sven Ulreich has played season after season for Bayern Munich, managed by coaches as illustrious as Josep Guardiola, Josef Heynckes and Hans-Dieter Flick to great success. But in his 8 years at Bayern, the 2023-24 season was his only trophyless season. So perhaps Ulreich knows what he is talking about when, speaking to Maximilian Koch of Abendzeitung, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, he talked positively about the changes new head coach Vincent Kompany is bringing to the club.
Here is what he had to say: “At the moment you can see that there’s a major change, that new things are being done in training. And that’s also quite good after this last trophyless season – that we now have a fresh start.”
Of course, being a former Hamburg SV player, he would also know about disaster when he sees it. So the tendency to praise the new work of Kompany could be a positive omen for Bayern ahead of the season of the push to reach the “Finale Dahoam.”
