Any fan who plays fantasy sports can appreciate a preseason ranking that has nothing to do with anything whatsoever. Other useless debates include Messi vs Ronaldo, best team of all-time, and best starting XI. There’s literally no way to probably know the answers but that’s half the fun, right?
ESPN decided to release a ranking of the top 50 club coaches in Europe. For some reason, ESPN opted to exclude national team managers. Here are some quick hitters:
- The Premier League has the most coaches on the list (14); the Bundesliga has four
- Five members have been the manager at Bayern Munich (Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel, Hansi Flick, Vincent Kompany)
- Kompany is ranked at #42; People management is his highest trait
- Ten managers don’t even have a job right now
- Ajax boss Francesco Farioli is the youngest member (age 35)
- Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini is the oldest manager (age 66)
The list is relatively accurate based on the factors involved: Coaching acumen, style, people management, communication, history/achievements, and X Factor.
