Manchester City have secured the signing of Naomi Layzell from Bristol City on a four-year deal, keeping her at the Joie Stadium until the summer of 2028. The 20-year-old promising defender, who will wear the number 3 shirt, joins Man City after playing a crucial role in Bristol City’s promotion to the Women’s Super League during the 2022-2023 season, where she featured in 20 out of 22 matches.
A product of Bristol City’s youth academy, Naomi Layzell made her senior debut at just 16 in 2020 and quickly established herself as a key player. Her standout performances last season earned her the Young Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards, despite Bristol City’s relegation from the WSL.
WHAT NAOMI LAYZELL SAID
“It’s quite surreal to be honest. You always want to play for the top teams as a young player and I think joining City is an exciting opportunity for me.
“Playing alongside and against top elite professionals in the world is just a brilliant opportunity and a really hard one to turn down. I grew so much as a person at Bristol City, but I felt it was time for me to find a new challenge. I’m really excited to get involved.”
As one of England’s exciting young prospects, Layzell’s move to Man City marks the next step in her promising career, where she will continue to develop and contribute to a top-flight team.
