Erling Haaland made Marc Cucurella regret his chant about him as Manchester City faced Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Following Spain’s Euro 2024 success, in which Cucurella played a key part, the left back was seen chanting during the parade: ‘Haaland you’d better tremble, because Cucurella is coming’.
However, it was Cucurella who was left trembling as Haaland opened his account for the campaign by scoring in the 18th minute by brushing off the left-back.
Gary Neville praised Haaland for his goal. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: ‘You wonder if he’s taken one touch too many, but it’s his strength and his power that allows him to hold off Cucurella and dink it past Sanchez… He’s a beast.’
Cucurella received some criticism during the early stages of his Chelsea tenure following his switch from Brighton in 2022.
